The rich volcanic Columbian soils and idyllic microclimates are perfect for growing specialty grade arabica. There are many states, or “departments” in Colombia, that produce these world-renown beans, but the coffee plantations in Santander are categorized by their abundant forests that help sustain a natural growing environment and a thriving surrounding ecosystem. The region rests atop a plateau between the vast Andean peaks and the immense El Tama National Park, a sprawling 340,000 acres of protected forests, rivers and picturesque mountains.
